Do you want to put more effort into moving home than you really need to? From our experience of removals in Swindon, we’d like to reassure you that you won’t have to. Go to it with a plan.
Now’s the chance to sift through all your stuff and declutter. The more you get rid of, the less boxes you will have to move. That means reducing the cost of moving and less to unpack. Lose any items you no longer use or you don’t like, clothes you never wore or that no longer fit. Because we do removals in Swindon, we’d like to think you can benefit yourself and others by donating your unwanted items to your local charity shop. Or perhaps you might consider holding a garage sale or pitching up at a car boot sale to sell your stuff. You could sell your belongings online. Some of the proceeds could go towards your removals cost, furniture or hosting a house warming party as a reward for all the effort of home moving.
When we do removals in Swindon, we consider it our job to work with you to make your move as hassle free as possible. You could flatten some cardboard boxes and lay them down to protect flooring.
Label all your packing boxes. Which room the contents belong to (which can help us know which box to put in which room) and a description of what’s inside. Then stick the labels on the top and side of each box so you can read when they’re stacked. Also, ensure that you label boxes that contain breakables as this will help your removal company when loading the van.
Plan on packing as early as possible. Pack as much as you can ahead of the moving day. Items that you don’t need on a daily basis can be packed up well in advance.
It’s a good idea to stash any screws and bolts inside freezer bags and stick them with masking tape to the furniture or appliance they belong to.
You’re ready to move, but do give some thought to the place you’re moving to. Make sure you have lightbulbs. You don’t want to find yourself unpacking in the dark. Take the opportunity to visit your new property and clean any of the previous occupants’ mess from moving out. It’ll be much easier to do than afterwards when you’ve moved everything in.
